The Clearing is a vision of the future in the grounds of Compton Verney Art Gallery and Park
What will we grow in the future? Where will the land to grow it come from? Will the developing world still grow mange tout for us, on demand? Will we ever eat avocados again?
This workshop will explore our food system. We’ll talk about the impact our food has on our emissions, top soil, rivers, seas and waistlines. We’ll ask whether it’s possible to feed Britian without fossil fuels. And we’ll introduce the concept of Permaculture, referred to as an ‘embarrassingly simple’ response to the increasingly complex challenge of climate change.
There'll also be a practical session, in which we put in a few crops for Clearing caretakers later in the year. Nine rows of beans should do it.
DATE: Saturday 6th May 2017.
TIME: 11am - 4pm.
BRING: Stout footwear, some food to share.
TICKETS: Workshops cost £10 per adult and £5 per child. This includes admission to the grounds. To book a place, click here.
